Enrolment enquiries are welcome at any time at the College.
The official enrolment period, particularly for students moving from Year 6 to Year 7 takes place in May each year for enrolment in the following year. At that time, the College organises Open Days, tours and Information sessions for prospective families looking to enrol their child in high school.
As a Catholic Systemic school of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, the College follows the Catholic Education Office’s Enrolment Policy, a summary of which is contained in the Enrolment Information Pack on the Catholic Education website:
Enrolments in Year 7, 8 and 9 2020 at St John Paul II College are closed, anyone applying now will be placed on a waiting list.
If you are interested in enrolling your child please contact the College office for further information.
When submitting an enrolment application you will need to submit the following information. Original documents will need to be presented at the time of interview.
- Birth certificate (not commemorative) or passport
- Certificate of Baptism (if applicable)
- Family Law, Personal Protection Order or Other Relevant Court Orders (if applicable)
- Last report from previous school
- Visa grant notice for permanent and temporary visa-holders (if applicable) – for both student and parent(s) / legal guardian(s), including passport copies of parents
- Any medical reports and/or other assessment reports for students with additional learning needs (if applicable)
If you submit your application online, you will receive an email with the completed application. Please ensure this document is signed accordingly (all relevant legal guardians and parents) and submitted to the school at the time of interview.
After submission (either online or in person) the school will contact you to inform the outcome of your application. Successful applicants will then receive an offer letter together with a ‘Parent Commitment Contract’ which needs to be signed by the student’s parents/legal guardians.
Following receipt of enrolment applications for Year 7 of the following year, all of the Catholic ACT secondary schools work together with the Catholic Education Office to ensure that a maximum number of places in a Catholic secondary school can be offered to families seeking enrolment.
Once the family have accepted a place for their child, a program of induction begins. This includes a further Information Evening including students interacting with each other and current students in their House, the opportunity to request a family interview with the House Leader of Learning and Wellbeing to begin the “getting to know you” process and an induction morning towards the end of the year. For students with special needs, more extensive induction processes are negotiated according to need.
ACT ENROLMENT PERIOD
Parents enrolling their children in a Catholic school in the ACT for the following year are asked to complete an official enrolment form before the end of May. Applications received after the due date can only be considered if vacancies still exist.
